…fit for a king

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a desk like the one a client brought me to refinish a few weeks away. She found it off Craigslist and it’s dual-sided and filled with cubbies, drawers & even filing cabinets. What a find!

The top of the desk had three leather in-lays that she wanted to keep as is. My DH is my expert taper and we used the Frog Tape that Miss Mustard Seed gave to me at Luckett’s. Thanks, again!

It worked great, but more importantly it was easy to remove.

Taping is not easy and you do need to take care and be exact. Especially if you are painting for someone else.

Check out the detail on this thing!

The leather was in pretty good condition, but she will need to find a leather product to really clean it up and keep it protected. FYI – this type of leather in-lay can be painted if you are not fond of the look.

She asked me about a dome chair that she also found on Craiglist (!!!) as a pair for the desk. Imagine the work you could get done on a piece like this? Love it.IMG_2739

I would have photographed it in the morning light, but honestly I think it weighs 3,000 lbs!

…Favorite Things Friday – Miss Mustard Seed’s Book

I have been following Miss Mustard Seed for a while and she’s such an inspiration in her craft & her faith. As you know she recently came out with her Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint line, which I am very excited about trying soon!

Just as exciting is her new book, Inspired You, that I just got in the mail last week. I pre-ordered it months ago and it showed up on my doorstep in the Amazon box.

I have to admit that I have not had a chance to sit down and read it, but I have flipped through the beautiful pages and looked at all the images. I think my favorite quote goes something like, when you see a gorgeous, glossy design book don’t get jealous get inspired. (I’m obviously paraphrasing)

Marian will be signing books November 2nd & 3rd at the Luckett’s Holiday Open House 10-5. See you there!
